3 Great Brands That Support Great Causes

Fashion is a big part of my life. The excitement is real when I discover a brand that I like and then further find that they support a good cause. Below I have listed three brands created with a mission to stand for something meaningful and relevant. It is a good feeling to love a brand and an even better feeling to love one that supports something you believe.

Madhappy

I want to start this off by saying that Madhappy is one of my favorite fashion brands. Their style is so on point and they are constantly evolving and surprising us with new drops and collaborations. But Madhappy is so much more than innovative fashion. The company was built with a social platform that broadens mental health awareness through their clothing products and labels like “Local Optimist” and “Madhappy”.

Madhappy was founded in 2017 with a mission to make the world a more optimistic place and open up the discussion about mental health in a fun and fashionable way. Madhappy has partnered with Happy Not Perfect, the JED Foundation and more. They’ve also launched their own mental health platform and resource called the Local Optimist which raised $1.8M by the end of 2019. On their Local Optimist website they have several tabs that include: a culture tab where they talk about issues like BLM, a get involved tab which is a guide to join the mental health movement, a tool kits tab that has so many resources on different mental health disorders, and a stories tab where people, including some of the founders of the company, share personal stories that are beyond touching and inspiring. Even if you have not experienced things they share in their stories, there is still relatable content in the lessons they have learned.

IDONTMIND

IDONTMIND is a lifestyle brand with a wide variety of merchandise that works towards defeating the stigma around mental illness.  Their mission is to get people talking about their minds and create positive messages surrounding mental health. IDONTMIND attempts to remind us that we are not defined by our mental illness. We are powerful, our feelings are valid, and our minds matter.

Not only does IDONTMIND’s company raise conversations about mental health, but the messages written on the apparel do as well. If you are wearing a shirt, sweatshirt, hat, bracelet, etc. that says, “I Don’t Mind” and someone asks you what it means, a new opportunity to discuss mental health arises.

IDONTMIND was founded in 2017 and is an official program of Mental Health America.  They have raised over $350,000 for mental health organizations across the US.

Something I also really love about their website is that they have great resources.  For example, they have a learn tab on their site where you can educate yourself about certain mental health disorders such as PTSD, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and eating disorders.

LOVE YOUR MELON

Love Your Melon is an apparel brand that is most well known for their hats and beanies.  Their mission is dedicated to giving a hat to every child battling cancer and raising money and awareness to support the fight against pediatric cancer.

50% of net profit from the sales of Love Your Melon products is given to nonprofit organizations around the world that lead the fight against pediatric cancer. Love Your Melon has given $7,286,239 and 206,186 beanies to pediatric cancer patients.

If you are looking for a hat this coming winter, definitely check out Love Your Melon. Not only is it such an amazing cause, but their products are comfortable, warm and on trend.
